Fluid connective tissue is blood. Blood is made up of white blood cells, red blood cells, plasma and platelets. They are each specialized for their own function Function Blood cells are found in the circulatory system. They transport oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients and hormones. They also will help to heal wounds by platelets making a protective layer around the wound so no infection can set in. |
SupportingStructure
Bone’s contains mostly collagen fibers embedded a form of calcium phosphate. Without collagen, bones would be brittle and shatter easily. Without mineral crystals, bones would flex and provide little support. Function Supporting tissues are what make up bones (and cartilage), and these bones make up a skeleton. This skeleton provides support for the animal body and protection on the soft organs inside. The rib cage protects the vital organs too. The structure of the skeleton is what allows an animal to move. Bones also are a store for calcium and phosphates which they can release if needs be. |
Loose
Structure Loose connective tissue contains fibroblasts and macrophages are present as well. Collagen fibers are relatively wide and stain a light pink, while elastic fibers are thin and stain dark blue to black. Function There are three known types of loose connective tissues. They found around blood vessels in the body. Loose tissues are very elastic which allows them to stretch, this is helpful for the tissues which act as a wrapping around blood vessels and nerves as they can accommodate the force exerted on them. These tissues are also used to support internal organs. |
